August 11 marks Mountain Day in Japan, a national holiday that encourages people to spend time in the mountains and appreciate the blessings of nature.
Each year, nanamica MOUNTAIN celebrates Mountain Day with events that offer opportunities to experience and enjoy nature in the city.
This year, we are hosting a pop-up with ADA LAB (Aqua Design Amano Laboratory), creators of paludariums—miniature planted ecosystems displayed in glass vessels under LED lighting—and TIMBER CREW PRODUCTS, the lifestyle brand by wood building materials manufacturer TIMBER CREW®. We will also be releasing a new nanamica MOUNTAIN souvenir item.
Nanamica MOUNTAIN is one of three nanamica stores located in the Daikanyama area, promoting the unique urban outdoor lifestyle that connects urban dwellers with nature. If you have an eye and heart for nature, you can enjoy an outdoor life full of surprises and discoveries even in the city.
We invite you to explore the experiences we’ve prepared to celebrate the spirit of nanamica MOUNTAIN.
ADA LAB (Aqua Design Amano Laboratory), which explores the many possibilities of paludariums as a new way to enjoy indoor greenery, will present a pop-up themed around the nature of Yakushima. The pop-up features framed photographs of Yakushima by ADA LAB founder Takashi Amano, as well as ready-made miniature paludariums inspired by the island’s natural landscape, which will be available for purchase.
Within the MARU95 and SHIZUKU glass vessels, plants coexist to create small self-contained worlds. Created while reflecting on nature from within the city, each paludarium expresses its own unique landscape. Whether placed on a sideboard, dining table, or favorite shelf, these indoor gardens offer a new way to enjoy greenery as part of your interior.

Another highlight is the return of TIMBER CREW PRODUCTS to nanamica MOUNTAIN for the first time in two years.
Presented by wood building materials manufacturer TIMBER CREW®, the pop-up features products made from offcuts and wood scraps generated during the manufacturing process.
By embracing the unique character of each piece of wood, these leftover materials are transformed into striking, one-of-a-kind objects. We invite you to discover bowls, stools, and other pieces that showcase the natural beauty of the material.
In addition, the first-floor space at nanamica MOUNTAIN will feature a special installation produced by TIMBER CREW GREEN, incorporating Yakusugi cedar to create an environment where visitors can experience a sense of nature within the city. We hope you’ll visit nanamica MOUNTAIN to experience a natural setting unique to the store.

Finally, we’d like to introduce the new YAMA Souvenir Collection.
The collection features graphic designs of the character "山" (mountain) by artist Ryu Mieno, symbolizing the nanamica MOUNTAIN souvenirs. Inspired by nature, the graphic combines forms that evoke a campfire, the fluidity of water, and the vitality of plants. The new souvenir T-shirt features this artwork and is dyed using BOTANICAL DYE, a process that uses plant-based ingredients to bond natural pigments to the fibers.
Using natural pigments derived from beech trunks and nettle leaves, the fabric is dyed with a low-impact process that creates a rich, naturally nuanced appearance. We hope you’ll enjoy this new souvenir T-shirt, designed to evoke a connection with nature.

The ADA LAB & TIMBER CREW® pop-up and the launch of the nanamica MOUNTAIN Souvenir Tee begin on August 7, 2026. We hope that through the annual Mountain Day Fair, more people will develop an appreciation for nature and a sense of connection with the environment.
