Capturing marine life by hand – Maeda Tokushu Printing STICKER & DESIGN STORE POP-UP

nanamica will host a STICKER & DESIGN STORE pop-up produced by Maeda Tokushu Printing, a sticker printing company founded in 1950 in Fukagawa, Tokyo.

Featuring graphics inspired by marine life, the designs are expressed through letterpress printing, reminiscent of printmaking. Carefully rendered details, layered plates, and subtle imperfections from the printing process bring a quiet sense of the sea into everyday life.

Maeda Tokushu Printing is a long-established print shop founded in 1950 in Fukagawa, Tokyo. Building on printing techniques refined over many years, they continue to value hands-on craftsmanship in their process today. What emerges from this approach is a surface that is never entirely uniform. Each piece carries slight variations, giving the products an organic quality despite being manufactured.

For this pop-up, the selection centers on stickers featuring marine life motifs. Fish and other sea creatures printed on vintage presses emerge with finely rendered details, carrying a striking presence that lingers in the viewer’s mind. In addition, T-shirts and bandanas featuring delicate linework expressed through silkscreen printing will also be available.

From smartphones and laptops to water bottles and suitcases, these pieces can be applied to a range of everyday items. Paired with familiar objects, they bring a subtle hint of the sea into daily life.
