Nanamica is releasing a line of souvenir items from its women’s store, nanamica D.W.S.
Located in the Daikanyama area, nanamica D.W.S. is one of three nanamica stores there, focusing on women’s items that embody the brand’s concept of functional, timeless standard wear.
Like the neighboring flagship store nanamica DAIKANYAMA, it serves as a space that conveys the brand’s worldview—designed with an awareness of both Japanese sensibility and the sea. Light pours in through the large glass entrance, filling the white-and-wood interior with a gentle, open atmosphere. As souvenirs that reflect this store’s spirit, nanamica has created a T-shirt and cap featuring artwork inspired by both the shop’s image and the sea.
The T-shirt is made from organic cotton jersey and features a graphic print. Available in off-white and black, it depicts waves drifting on the sea, reimagined as Tokyo’s mirages and smoke, with an artwork composed to reflect vertically like a mirror. The design portrays an illusory landscape where the wavering of the sea meets the hardness of urban concrete. A subtle nanamica D.W.S. artwork is printed at the back of the neck.
The fit is true to gently relaxed size and pairs well with masculine-style trousers or nanamica’s classic chino skirt.
The chino cap, made from nanamica’s signature covering core yarn chino cloth, comes in two colors: natural ecru and black. Its artwork depicts the sea as a single, continuous line—an endless expanse without boundaries—featuring the motif of a gracefully swimming woman. The smoky blue embroidery evokes the calm, open sea that is so characteristic of nanamica.
The artwork was created by NOI, an artist based in Tokyo. In close communication with the store staff, she drew inspiration from the interior and atmosphere of nanamica D.W.S., as well as from the sea, to produce the artwork for this souvenir project. The result is a modern design with an easy, relaxed touch. We hope it gives you a quiet sense of connection—feeling the presence of the sea even in the city, and a freedom that links you to the wider world. I’m grateful to have been part of the beginning of the nanamica D.W.S. souvenir project.
Through my design, I hoped to express— if only in a small way—the connection between nature and life, and a world without boundaries, where people can share mutual understanding.
