For the 2025 Fall & Winter season, THE NORTH FACE Purple Label’s iconic Mountain Parka is released in a new quilted design. It’s a fresh take on one of the brand’s signature masterpieces.
In the THE NORTH FACE Purple Label collection, the Mountain Parka is an indispensable piece when speaking of classic outdoor style. This season, the brand set out to expand the expression of its standard 65/35 Bayhead Cloth Mountain Parka by reimagining it with a quilted material—an update that speaks to the unique character of the Fall/Winter season.
When you think of quilting, long-established factory brands naturally come to mind. Inspired by the idea of an imaginary collaboration with such a brand, this version of the Mountain Parka is expressed through an original quilt stitch pattern. It uses a three-layer quilted material without lining, featuring 40Denier recycled nylon taffeta. To add a classic touch, tricot corduroy fabric is used on the inside of the hood and facings.
The front features a classic diamond quilt design. The back uses a quilt stitch inspired by traditional American patchwork, where small fabric pieces are assembled to form a pattern. The subtle contrast between the front and back creates a geometric, original design that adds visual interest.
The insulation uses PRIMALOFT® Black Insulation, a synthetic fill highly resistant to moisture. Made entirely from recycled materials, it offers both high heat retention and lightness. By using this filling, the piece achieves the brand’s goal of updating both functionality and environmental responsibility. It maintains just the right volume, making it ideal for the autumn and winter season.
The design stays true to the classic Mountain Parka. Iconic details such as the distinctive hood pattern, drawcords, and four front pockets remain intact. The corduroy lining of the hood not only gives it a classic look but also enhances warmth.
The fit is about half a size larger than the standard Bayhead Cloth Mountain Parka. It features a two-way front zipper for easy on and off, and includes an inner pocket sized to hold a smartphone.
The lineup includes the brand’s signature Asphalt Gray, a deep brown reminiscent of autumn and winter foliage, and classic black. Despite its appearance, the jacket feels lighter when worn, making it easy to layer over flannel shirts or chunky knits.
We’ve managed to reinterpret one of the brand’s iconic pieces through a fresh, previously unexplored approach. This outerwear embodies the brand’s concept of “outdoor gear that performs in the city.” As we move deeper into autumn and toward winter, we invite you to experience this classic-yet-new quilted Mountain Parka for yourself in stores.
