Nanamica is releasing an exclusive model of the "Original Fatigue 4Pocket Pants" in collaboration with the American workwear brand GUNG HO, available at nanamica stores.
GUNG HO’s "Original Fatigue 4Pocket Pants" have been sewn at their factory in Crockett County, Texas, since the 1970s. This factory was known for manufacturing fatigue pants to MILSPEC standards for the U.S. military in the 70s and 80s.
The detail of the fatigue pants, which were used by the U.S. Army from the 1950s to the 80s, is characterized by the large four utility pockets. The back pockets feature flaps, which help prevent rain and dust from entering. The details, which have remained unchanged since the 1970s, are a staple of GUNG HO’s design.
The fabric used is ECO Twill from "CARR TEXTILE," based in Mississippi and established in 1973. ECO Twill is a 7oz twill fabric made of 65% recycled polyester and 35% organic cotton. The recycled polyester is made from polyethylene terephthalate (PET) bottles, making it lightweight, tough, and quicker to dry compared to cotton, while also being more resistant to wrinkles.
In terms of sewing, the hip and side areas, which experience the most stress during wear, are stitched with a 1/4-inch (0.7 cm) Union Special machine, ensuring strength and durability. This stitching, combined with thicker thread and a rough finish, evokes the feeling of American workwear. The center crease adds a military dress aesthetic.
The included buttons are disc-shaped for easy detachment, recreating military-style buttons used since the Vietnam War. The interior tag reads “CRAFTED WITH PRIDE IN AMERICA,” reflecting a message from labor unions during the period following the Vietnam War (1965–1975) when production moved overseas to reduce costs. The tag encourages a reevaluation of domestic manufacturing.
The silhouette is a regular fit, piped straight style (straight from the knee to the hem), which fits various outfits. Since the waist is tight, it is recommended to wear it one to two sizes larger than your usual size for a better fit.
