A new jacket with a variety of pocket details from THE NORTH FACE Purple Label’s standard covering core yarn denim series is now released.
In the beginning of spring when there is still a big temperature difference between morning, afternoon, and evening, and slight chilliness remains, it’s time for the indigo package to be the main focus of the collection.
The denim made with original slub yarn with a recycled polyester core covered in cotton, offers natural comfort, quick-drying, lightweight, and durable properties. This is one of the brand’s signature fabrics that was developed from the yarn, and features a natural depth of color and slightly raised texture.
This season, in addition to the basic items like bottoms and skirts that appear every season, a field jacket was created with a design element on the front pocket.
First let’s focus on the pocket details.
Based on the message that the brand conveys —"enjoy nature nearby and document it"—the design was inspired by the style of carrying a compact camera. The size and shape of the pockets are designed with the idea of taking a camera and venturing into nature in mind.
The front pockets are designed to conveniently store small cameras and film. They can hold not only cameras but also small sketchbooks, film, exposure meters, and other items essential for camera work, making them versatile multi-utility pockets.
The neckline design incorporates details based on the concept of "documenting." When the collar is stood up like a coverall, it features a tab design that can hold items like a camera strap. The design is carefully crafted to securely hold the strap, thereby being able to support the action of holding the camera. Additionally, the underarm area is designed with a pivot sleeve to allow for more movement and greater range of motion.
The jacket style features a lining only on the back. The inside of the stitching is highlighted with purple-colored backing thread, which serve as a design accent when the jacket is removed. Along with the natural aging process of denim that changes in appearance with wear, subtle design elements that evoke the brand are also noteworthy.
The color lineup includes indigo bleach with a well-worn look and one-wash indigo. The front features easy-to-use THE NORTH FACE logo dot buttons, with a 42mm embroidered logo that stands out as the brand’s iconic symbol.
