We’ve updated the Mountain Wind Coat in preparation for the upcoming spring season.
The TRIP IN THE WIND category from THE NORTH FACE Purple Label centers on the concept of travel-friendly gear. Using its signature polyester wool ripstop fabric, we designed a coat that has a beautiful silhouette when worn.
This original ripstop fabric is made with recycled polyester warp threads, and a blend of recycled polyester and polyester-wool yarns in the weft. It showcases the natural feel and distinctive sheen that only wool can provide, and we’ve extended its application to backpacks and accessories as well.
It features an environmentally conscious PFC-free water-repellent finish that does not use fluorinated compounds, so that it can provide protection against sudden changes in weather during your travels.
The lineup features three colors: purple as this season’s accent color, a modern shade of midnight navy, and the brand’s signature asphalt gray.
First, we’d like to draw attention to the A-line silhouette with slightly wider hem, giving it the relaxed form of a Balmacaan coat when worn.
Despite its minimal exterior design, the inside is equipped with organizer pockets for storing small essentials while traveling. By combining a roomy silhouette with ample storage capacity, this coat offers both style and functionality.
The front features THE NORTH FACE logo snap buttons for easy on and off. Although it’s carefully tailored, the design concept is a coat you can quickly throw on while on the go. By using a single-tone approach for the shoulder yoke—a signature detail of THE NORTH FACE—and recreating the brand’s iconic mountain parka hood cut, we’ve blended function and style in one piece.
The tension of the inner cuff shirring can be adjusted from the outside. By tightening it, you can keep the wind out, while the gathered cord adds a distinct styling accent.
Despite its solid, streamlined appearance at first glance, the thoughtful details—like interior storage pockets and the silhouette when worn—set this new spring coat apart. It has enough presence to stand out as the main piece in any look.
