nanamica and THE NORTH FACE Purple Label are launching products made with Brewed Protein™ fibers. Brewed Protein™ fibers are next-generation innovative structural protein materials that are regarded as a new solution to numerous pressing environmental issues and risks.
We are developing with the concept of ’Regenerative Circle’ and aiming to establish the practicality of Brewed Protein™️ fiber as a next-generation innovative material, with the goal of replacing environmentally burdensome resources and animal-derived materials, thus regenerating the state of the Earth’s environment, society, and industry into a better condition, enabling a circular economy.
Balmacaan Coat is a signature piece of nanamica. Inheriting the basic design, this edition features Brewed Protein™ fibers, a next-generation innovative structural protein materials that are regarded to be a new solution to numerous pressing environmental issues and risks. The gentle curve from the shoulder line creates an elegant A-line silhouette.
Constructed with a one-piece-sleeve pattern with a wide width, the coat sits perfectly over a jacket without losing its original silhouette. Expertly made at an overcoat factory in Japan,
it’s a product nanamica will pass on to the future.
Sierra Parka, one of the most iconic products of THE NORTH FACE Purple Label, produced by nanamica receives a fresh makeover by Brewed Protein™. Kodenshi® down used in the insulation provides natural warmth by delivering the far-infrared radiation energy emitted by the human body back to the skin. Debuted in the 1970s as the first outerwear of THE NORTH FACE brand, Sierra Parka has become to be recognised as the standard of down parkas in the outdoor scene. This version is made with Brewed Protein™ fibers, an innovative structural protein materials that are regarded to be a new solution to numerous pressing environmental issues and risks, to become a more modern product.
About Brewed Protein™ fibers
Brewed Protein™ fibers are lab-grown, plant-derived, circular materials made through a proprietary microbial fermentation process. The fibers are a compelling solution to the growing demands of animal and petrochemical-free fibers to address numerous pressing environmental issues and risks. The potential environmental impact of a forward-looking Brewed Protein™ fiber production plan was found to be significantly smaller than cashmere and merino wool, largely due to the lower environmental impacts of inputs for Brewed Protein™ polymer production (primarily plant crops and renewable electricity) when compared to livestock farming for cashmere and wool production. Production scale has been growing and Brewed Protein™️ fibers, yarns, and fabrics are now available for purchase at commercial scale.
