PLAS: Versatile Layering for the Changing Seasons

The PLAS (Purple Layer Access System) series reinterprets military-inspired field coats and jackets with the urban sensibility characteristic of THE NORTH FACE Purple Label. Designed to adapt to today’s increasingly changeable weather, the pieces feature a zip-in system that allows a down cardigan or fleece cardigan to be attached as an inner layer, providing dependable versatility as conditions change. The outer fabric is a high-density recycled nylon twill with a subtle sheen, while the lining is made from smooth-to-the-touch 40-denier nylon taffeta. The designs retain their rugged military details while striking a balance between refinement and lightness.

(Top) Based on the familiar THE NORTH FACE Mountain Jacket, PLAS Nylon Twill Field Coat incorporates details not found on the original, including printed elbow patches that serve as both a visual accent and a reference to reinforcement details, as well as a stowaway hood.
(Bottom)  PLAS Nylon Twill Field Jacket takes the THE NORTH FACE Gotham Jacket as its starting point, refining its construction and silhouette for a sleeker look. The collar can be turned up and secured with a chin strap to keep out cold winds

PLAS Field Down Cardigan is attached as an inner layer to PLAS Nylon Twill Field Coat. Its ultra-fine 7-denier ripstop outer fabric and carefully balanced amount of down filling make it exceptionally thin and lightweight. Despite its minimalist appearance, the KODENSHI® Down insulation delivers high-performance warmth, reflecting far-infrared energy emitted by the body back toward it to retain heat for extended periods. If it gets too warm while you’re out, simply roll it up and pack it away compactly.

PLAS Fleece Field Cardigan uses an original brushed fleece fabric with a substantial feel, reworked into the silhouette of a retro cardigan. The pile is made from a hybrid material that combines the warmth of natural wool with the lightness of synthetic polyester. This piece can also be layered with the coats and jackets in the series.

(Top) The check-patterned jacquard brings a classic mood and a sense of warmth, adding a distinctive accent to winter outfits. The contrast with the nylon fabric of PLAS Nylon Twill Field Jacket is particularly fresh when the cardigan peeks out from underneath.
(Bottom) Based on a subdued charcoal gray, the color scheme uses subtly different tones for the piping and ribbed sections, creating a sophisticated, understated look. It also makes a stylish piece worn on its own.
