A Hemp Mountain Parka for the long summer.

The Mountain Parka is one of THE NORTH FACE Purple Label’s signature pieces. This season, the brand introduces a version of this iconic THE NORTH FACE item recreated in 100% hemp, a natural material. Despite its timeworn appearance, it has an appealing light, airy feel when worn. The reason for this comfort lies in the hollow structure of the fibers. Highly absorbent and breathable, the fabric draws away moisture in the humid heat of late summer and gradually conforms to the body with wear. The hemp canvas is also environmentally conscious, produced with minimal use of pesticides and chemical fertilizers. In a sense, it is “natural techwear”: outdoor clothing, usually dominated by technical fabrics, reinterpreted in a natural material.

The finished fabric is deliberately garment-washed to create abrasion and wear along the seams, reproducing the faded character of a piece worn for years. That vintage-inspired mood carries through to the design as well. Based on THE NORTH FACE Mountain Jacket introduced in the 1990s, the length and volume have been updated for a more contemporary silhouette. At the right rear hem, THE NORTH FACE Berkeley graphic embroidery appears subtly in the same color as the fabric. That understated twist is characteristic of THE NORTH FACE Purple Label.
