「Field coat and a new page」

The seniors I look up to all seem to keep a planner. One of them once said, “The time I spend writing in it is like a small reward to myself.”
With so many convenient apps around, I used to wonder—why bother putting things down on paper? But suddenly, that thought felt a little embarrassing. Maybe the new year just gave me an excuse to want to grow up a bit.

Things I wanted to try started pouring out — like visiting that barbershop I saw in a magazine, or taking a solo trip somewhere. But when I actually picked up the pen, I got nervous. Maybe it’s just because I’m not used to writing by hand. I remember feeling the same way the first time I put on this field coat. Each time I wear it, it feels more and more like my own. Even though it’s made from high-tech materials, it somehow feels like something I’ve had for years — completely natural now.
Since the start of the new year, the sudden cold has made layering down underneath a must. It’s incredibly light yet warm — I didn’t feel the chill once while outside. The fit, the color — somehow, it just feels like me.
I wonder what kind of plans I’ll start filling these blank pages with.
