FFFES Art Installation 「LANDSCAPE」 by m2n

2025.04.21

Nanamica will host a temporary art installation titled "LANDSCAPE " by artist m2n at nanamica MOUNTAIN in Daikanyama, Tokyo.

The project "FFFES (For. Feel. Find. Endangered Species)" was launched in the previous season.

Each season, it highlights one species of living creature and one artist. The goal is to provide an opportunity for people to learn about endangered species while enjoying the artwork of the creature created by the artist and the corresponding items. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to the Nature Conservation Society of Japan, a public interest incorporated foundation that works on the conservation of endangered species in Japan. In the 2025 Spring & Summer season, we feature Japanese Golden Eagle and artist m2n.

In this art installation, m2n’s artwork, inspired by the Japanese Golden Eagle created from upcycled remnants, will be specially exhibited at nanamica MOUNTAIN. Alongside newly created works based on existing materials, we will also enjoy a spatial presentation that links the works with past graphic art drawn during his lifework.

In conjunction with this exhibition, visitors can enjoy the full lineup of THE NORTH FACE Purple Label’s Spring / Summer collection, particularly the FFFES series primarily available at nanamica MOUNTAIN. Through m2n’s artwork and the message of this exhibition, we hope to spark interest in the natural environment surrounding us, including endangered species like the Japanese Golden Eagle.

Here is m2n’s comment:
「While researching the Japanese Golden Eagle, its sharp gaze and powerful physique left a lasting and captivating impression on me. Today they continue to survive, struggling through nature while being driven away. I hope this becomes an opportunity to reflect on the coexistence of nature, humanity, and technology from various perspectives, and consider what can be done to maintain their balance and harmony.」

Japanese Golden Eagle / Aquila chrysaetos japonica
Measuring 81–89 cm in length with a wingspan exceeding 2 meters, this large raptor primarily inhabits mountainous regions and open grasslands, focusing on areas like Hokkaido, Tohoku, Chubu, and the Japan Sea side of the Chugoku region. Known for its sharp eyes and beak, its body is covered in dark brown feathers, but true to its English name, "Japanese Golden Eagle," it features golden feathers on the back of its head, creating a striking accent. Its diet mainly consists of hares, pheasants, and snakes, but it also preys on mammals like young serows and deer. It is said that once it pairs with a mate the couple remains together for life, and who together establishes a territory in the mountains and lives in the same location year-round. Its range is expansive, with an average territory size of 20–60 square kilometers.
